What is squash?  

  • Squash is a fast-paced, indoor racket-sport that develops fitness, speed, stamina, hand-eye coordination and strategy.
  • It's one of the fastest growing youth sports in the US-over 200 university teams.

Do I need specialized equipment?  

  • A racquet, safety goggles, and non-marking court shoes.

In what league do teams compete?  

  • All  203 public middle and high school teams compete in the FairWest league, the largest and public school league in the US.
  • Other towns competing in this league are Greenwich, Darien, New Canaan, Rye, Bronxville, Briarcliff, Fairfield, and New Haven.
  • In addition, friendly matches are arranged with local private schools.

Will learning squash mess up my tennis/golf/lacrosse etc?

  • No. Squash is a great complement to other sports. Roger Federer plays squash. It’s proven to help overall fitness, hand-eye coordination, and stamina.

Can parents watch matches?

  • Yes, parents are encouraged to watch matches
  • Parents must abide by the code of conduct and not talk to the student referees

Do I have to play challenge matches?  

  • If you're fine with your position on the ladder, you don't have to issue challenges.   However, if someone else challenges you, you must play within 10 days or risk moving down the ladder 

Why aren't I receiving all your emails?  

  • Please check your registration.  There are two reasons you may not be getting emails.  First, you registered as a player, with your child as the primary email recipient. That means he/she is getting emails, but not you. You can fix that by registering as a parent on :  Some of you also did not enable email permissions (in settings).  Please correct that asap so you and/or your parents don't miss out on important emails.  There is a Sportslocker help center on the site if you need assistance.
